On Sunday there were very few drivers, but a nice girl took me to a large station near Brno after about 20/30 minutes

Well set up for rides to Brno, but you MUST ask drivers at the gas station. Cars on the highway are traveling at speeds too high to stop for a hitchhiker.

Waited quite a long time in hot weather with a sign. Was trying to get to Brno, but settled for a village just across the Czech border. Many CZ cars and trucks passed without stopping. In principle, it’s a great setup with room to stop before and after the station as well as plenty of internal traffic. In practice, it took me a long time.

Countless cars, but it still took an hour and a half to get anywhere. My signs went from Czechia to simply Południe (South) in an effort to get to Brno. Ended up with two guys going to Stuttgart who dropped me off in Worcław.

Ok spot in Brno, people did not stop much. The cops came to tell us away but after explaining to them that there is no other good spot, they went away. Cars going relatively slow with a place to pull over. (Not trucks) Bring a sign.

Hitchhiked from this spot twice. Last year we waited a few minutes and immidiately got a car to Vienna. This year we waited aprox. a half an hour and then a two cars stopped for us and offered us a lift to some Czech towns along the road which we declined. After one more hour we sucesfully got a lift to Vienna. In my opinion, and based on my local knowledge probably the best spot to hitchhike from Brno towards Vienna. The cars are going fast, but theres lots of them. I Recommend to hold a big directon sign.

A lot of cars, it’s accessible for cars or public transport
Cars are going slowly so plenty of time to read the signal to Brno, no Austria people

was dropped of at the Motel - close to no traffic going on the highway (waited around 15 minutes and no car coming from under the bridge was turning in on the highway) But I was lucky getting picked up quickly ,just before it started to rain, by a super kind women coming from the other direction who turned in to go on the Highway, which took me all the way to Kurim next to Brno and let me sleep at her and her husband flat :)

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Brno to Budapest (successful).
It looks like a really good place. At the end of the petrol station. Enough space for cars and lorries to stop. No shade (luckly it was a bit windy that day).
I got dropped here by a previous driver a bit before midday and after 25 minutes a Serbian lorry driver heading home picked me up and dropped on the outskirts of Budapest.
Due to road works on the highway it took us over 3,5 hours to reach the outskirts of Budapest. It looks the construction will last for quite some time.

One male 40+, with a sigh "BRATISLAVA", one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Brno to Budapest (successful).
It looks like a good place. The entrance to the pertol station, with loads of space (enough for 2-3 lorries). After the traffic lights, so people drive slowly, and can see you easily.
There are also downsides. It's before the big junction, and cars go everywhere, to Prage, Viena, Bratislava, Ostrava (and Poland) and also locally. So, I'd say that a sign is necessary here. The traffic is constant, so you'll not have time to rest your arm. In the morning no shade.
After 25 minutes a woman stopped, but she was going only locally (she didn't see my sigh).
After one hour I started loosing my hope a bit. I gave myself 0,5 h more before moving to another spot. 5 minuts before the deadline a man stopped and took me to Bratislava. He said that he saw my sign, so I recommend having one here.
The driver was kind enough to drop me at a petrol station south of Bratislava, where quickly I got a ride to Budapest.

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Wroclaw to Brno (successful).
I was dropped by a previous driver a few hundreds meters up north of that spot. After a short walk I've found that place. A bay (looks like a bus stop or parking place for 3 cars), where drivers can easly pull over. Good visibility. No shade. After 5 minutes I got a ride to Brno. The driver was even kind enough to drop my at the door of my destination there.

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Wroclaw to Brno (successful).
I was dropped by a previous driver in Kraliky and I started to walk south, looking for a spot to hitchhike. There was absolutely nothing for the first half and hour. Then I reach that spot. I don't like using bus stops to hitchhike. Especially in the villages/towns. But I was tired so I put my thumb up here. It was a very good decision. Within a minute I got a ride. Not far, coz only 5 kms (just before Bila Voda). But overe there I quickly got a ride all the way to Brno.
